Tadi Subhakar completed his post graduation from the M.S.University Baroda, after which, he has been working in a strictly black monochromatic palette. Subhakar expresses: “I presume, there is no art that has no signification. For me tonal values, which are corporeal or implicit, represent some kind of shape and meaning though it does not portray anything that can be easily recognised.
The artist justifies his use of limited colour by talking about the “relentlessly growing urban culture (which) became my area of interest. (He) exemplifies the multifarious identity crisis of 'cosmopolitan' culture where by the gigantic spaces are used as means of promotion of ones ideology. Hence I want them to be painted in black.”
