Cymroza Art Gallery invites you to the Preview of
Gandhian artist, Haku Shah, recipient of the Padma Shri and the Kala Ratna awards for his contribution to art, at the age of 80 years, is exhibiting his recent works. Besides being a reputed artist, he is a cultural anthropologist who has carried out extensive field research and documentation on rural and tribal arts and crafts, traditions and folklore. He has taught at a Gandhian Ashram in South Gujarat and established and curated a tribal museum set up by Mahatma Gandhi at the Gujarat Vidyapith in Ahmedabad, which has become his last legacy. An author of international repute on folk and tribal art and culture, his works are placed in the line of artists who brought themes of folk and tribal art to the Indian art scene. In 2009 he published his memoirs entitled 'Manush'.
